Was I wrong, gay hookup problem?

I was suppose to meet a guy for a hookup at a hotel but he didn't want to meet in a public place first he didn't even want to meet in the loby. He just wanted to meet at the room. I got a little worried that he might not have been 20 like he said he was so I incisted but he said no. Also he didn't want to rent the room himself he wanted me to do it. Is this how hookups work are you like not suppose to have any contact until you're there in the room. WTH I think is dangerous but idk. should I do it ?
