Viewing Laptop On TV Help?

I have a MacBook and I am using a cable to hookup the laptop to my TV so that I can watch Hulu, Netflix, etc. When I try to watch something from Hulu on my TV I can't get the image to be in the center of the TV. When I plug the cable into my laptop it refreshes the screen so that the image is blown out on the laptop, but is a normal size for the TV only it's off centered on the TV because it's blown out on the computer screen. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, how do I fix this? I tried using this for an iPhoto slide show and that worked fine and did not experience this issue, so I'm not sure what's going on. Thanks for any tips or info!!
