Can a gold wedding ring react with chloride solvents?

Whenever I drip the slightest amount of methylene chloride or chloroform on my gold wedding ring, after a delay, it burns painfully and my skin gets red. I'm not sure if it's merely heat or reacting with my skin, but there are no visible marks on the ring. These solvents do not hurt my skin unless the ring is present.
